The back story.

To tell my story, I must go back several weeks.

May 2022
My mother and aunts have just retired and my cousins and I went to Aruba with them on their retirement trip.  I felt GREAT!  It was the most relaxing trip that I have ever had.  Seven days of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

I returned from the trip and had to have a "girlie" procedure at the beginning of June called and Endometrial Ablation.  Essentially, the medication that they were giving me to stop my painful "cycle" was not working and due to my previous stomach surgery, it could have been a malabsorption issue.  Again, I had a follow up from this procedure and felt great!

On June 29th, I went to Urgent Care with face and severe neck pain.  I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and sent along my way with antibiotics and Flonase.  Two weeks later, I was still not feeling well and had ear pain still so I went back to Urgent Care.  I was diagnosed with "allergies" and told to use a sinus rinse.  Again, 2 weeks later, now with a cough, I again went back with ear and neck pain.  I was then diagnosed with an ear infection.  More antibiotics, and again 10 days later, I tried to make an ENT appointment, no luck, it was going to be months.  I spoke to an ENT office that suggested I go the Mass Eye and Ear in Boston's Emergency Room.  I complied, went and again, they couldn't perform a hearing test, as Audiology was extremely short-staffed due to Covid.  .  Tears came fast.  The MD who I saw in the ER, promised me that he would get me in the following week if I would just go to his office.  And as promised, the following Wednesday he got me in for all of the testing.  Still nothing was found, more testing was ordered.

That Friday, I was awoken from a solid sleep with terrible left shoulder pain.  The kind that you take aspirin and hope that it isn't your heart.  I was rushed to a local Emergency Room and a full work up showed nothing imminent.  I was discharged home and advised to call my MD and Rheumatologist.  I slept the entire weekend in pain.

Monday I spoke to my PCP and he thought that the pain could have been Gout, I was prescribed pain medication as I awaited a call back from my Rheumatologist, who advised me to go to my local Quest lab for a bunch of labs ASAP.  I went  Wednesday afternoon.  And again that evening the severe pain had moved from my left shoulder to my right shoulder, to my chest and then to my abdomen.  Again, I was rushed to the Emergency Room.  Quickly, it was realized that I had a lacerated spleen and I was rushed immediately to UMASS.

This is where the story turns.
I was given a trauma room in the emergency room immediately and quickly it was assessed that I was internally bleeding and would need blood transfusions, MY ABSOLUTE BIGGEST FEAR!
